My Shower on September 20th

On Saturday, September 20th, my dear friend Katherine hosted a baby shower for me at her home in Simpsonville.

It was a truly wonderful day! The weather was beautiful, I got to spend time with my loved ones and celebrate Ava...it was a very special day that I won't forget.



Ava and I are so lucky to have the love and support of our family and friends. Thank you to everyone for your generosity and thoughtfulness -- it is greatly appreciated! A special thank you to Mom and Dad Wight for making the trip to be here for the weekend!

Our Couples Shower on the 13th

Chad and I were honored with a special couples shower on the 13th of September. Anthony and Robin Walsh were our very gracious hosts. The shower began at 3 and dinner was served around 6. It was a big USC football game day, so the guys were able to relax and watch the game while us ladies chatted about fun stuff like babies :)

We felt so lucky to be surrounded by so many of our friends. We were able to catch up with several people that we hadn't had the opportunity to see in a while. It was a wonderful afternoon - Chad and I are so very thankful for all of the kindness and generosity that was showered upon us.

Birthday Blessings

Today was truly one of the best days anyone could ask for....I am so blessed and so thankful for my family and friends! Your love and support means the world to me. You all truly made my birthday (and every day) extra special!

I was lucky enough to be able to spend the day with Chad, he took off from work, which was a wonderful treat. He surprised me with a prenatal massage at the West End Spa in Greenville -- it was the first prenatal massage I've had and it was awesome! I felt so relaxed and at ease. The therapist really helped relieve some of the pressure and achiness I've been feeling. Afterwords Chad and I had a nice lunch and spent the day in Greenville looking for treats for Ava.

When we got home, there was a big box waiting for me from Lynn and I couldn't believe what was inside! It was a diaper cake for me and Ava filled with all kinds of goodies. I can only imagine how long it took her to make -- Ava and I absolutely love it.

Tonight, Mom, Dad, Erin and Nathan came over for cake and ice cream. We had a very nice visit, as always. I was quite surprised to open up a new Camcorder from Mom and Dad and Erin -- I can't thank you enough!!! I look forward to videoing all of the precious moments that lie ahead with Ava, thanks for your thoughtfulness and generosity!

The painting is complete!

Exciting news from the homefront - Ava's room is all painted! Chad finished up the last coat of paint on Saturday evening and spent the day yesterday adding some extra touches to the room. He installed some new blinds, a new door knob, switch plates and a dimmer switch for the light. Daddy wants only the best for little Ava :) He has been working very hard in the nursery, I know he is happy it is nearing completion as well. I am on vacation this week, so I hope to get the carpeting steam cleaned and prepped to start bringing things back into the room. I can't wait to see it all come together.

On Saturday Chad and I attended a prepared parenthood class at Greenville Memorial Hospital - it was from 9 to 4 and provided us with lots of great information. We took a tour of the labor and delivery floor and the mom/baby rooms which was great. It was very comforting to me to see exactly where we go when the time comes and to get an idea of what the delivery rooms are like.

Last Wednesday was my 32 week check up - things are progressing along nicely, the doctors have given me a thumbs up on all areas. As of 28 weeks I've been going every 2 weeks for check ups. My glucose test came back negative, so no worries about gestational diabetes, and I am measuring right on track for our Oct 28th due date. As Ava is getting bigger her movements are more deliberate, she has discovered where mommies ribs are and likes to kick up there.
