Last Wednesday we had the amazing opportunity to see our little Ava via 3D ultrasound -- it was incredible to be able to see her little face and body in detail. She was nestled in for a nice little afternoon nap and did not want to wake from her slumber no matter how the ultrasound technician poked and prodded. We were able to see her from the side view, but she never really adjusted her position to allow us to see her straight on. I can't say that I blame her, she was warm and cozy and enjoying her rest! One of my favorite moments was seeing her yawn, it was absolutely precious! (see photo 2 above)

Work in the nursery continues

Chad has been hard at work over the weekend sanding down the newly laid skim coat of drywall. The primer has been put on and now we are ready to paint. What a big job this has turned out to be -- but no one has minded terribly, knowing it's for little Ava. We are very excited about our upcoming 3d ultrasound appointment on Wednesday. We will post some photos as soon as we have them.

7 month check

Today was my 28 week check up - it was a very eventful (and lengthy) appointment, I did the standard Glucose tolerance test, met with the doctor and had an ultrasound to confirm that things were moving along on schedule.
The Glucose test was not much fun, I had to drink 10 ozs of a very sweet and syrupy orange drink and wait an hour to have my blood drawn. I was feeling a little green in the waiting room and was so happy to have Chad there with me! Unfortunately we won't know the results from the test for another 2 - 4 days.
We did get to see our precious little Ava on the ultrasound which was so amazing...she has changed and grown so much in the last 8 weeks! I know the ultrasound photos are grainy and tough to see, but we could see her little features and how they have developed and it was just so incredible. Seeing her little face on the monitor made me well up. She actually smiled twice -- it was soo cute! Best of all we got the wonderful news that everything looks great and is progressing along normally. Ava weights 2 1/2 lbs and is measuring right on schedule!
Now I will start having check ups every 2 weeks and then at 36 weeks I will have weekly visits. Little Ava will be here before we know it -- Chad and I can't wait!!

Working on the nursery

Whew....what a day! Before we can paint the nursery, the big job of re-taping and re-mudding all of the seams and sanding down all the walls had to be completed. Lucky for us, we had a team of help that insisted on coming over to help get baby Ava's room ship shape. Dad, Erin and Nathan most graciously volunteered to come over and they didn't waste any time getting to work. We were hoping we would be able to salvage most of the seams but after taking a closer look that was not the case, it looked like they were all very sloppily done, and they all needed to be redone. I wasn't able to contribute too much, so I kept the snacks and drinks and words of encouragement coming. After a solid day of work, we are about 75% done. We cannot thank you enough Dad, Nathan and Erin -- you guys are awesome and we greatly appreciate all of your hard work! Ava is going to have one beautiful room by the time we are all done!!
